Requirements to be a WPCG Company Trainer

*** The company trainer methodology is currently under review and therefore the acceptance of applications is on hold until that review is complete. ***

You apply to be a company trainer by creating an account and selecting as your profile “company trainer”. You will then need to fill out the the following application form that appears.

As we don’t train you in how to be a trainer, there are some pre-requisites required in order to be a company trainer.

1. Knowledge in How to Train Others in the Classroom

The WPCG training course must be conducted in the classroom using the training material provided, and takes a minimum of 4-5 hours to run. Individuals must demonstrate that they have the necessary skill set to provide this training.

If you have completed a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, or some other formal Train The Trainer course, provide a copy of your certificate.

If you have not got a formal qualification in training, the application form has an area where you can outline how you currently train people. You will need to provide evidence in the way of samples of the types of courses you currently run.

Note that if you have only ever trained others “on the job” and have not conducted classroom training before, your application will not be accepted as it does not meet the necessary skill set required for this particular training course.

2. Industry Specific Experience

It is mandatory that you have a minimum of two years of experience having worked on the oil companies facilities. If you don’t have oil company specific experience, but do have experience in other high risk environments with similar hazards, this will be considered

If approved to attend the company trainer training session, you will be required to present a short presentation on the day. This material will be emailed to you a few days prior to the course.

Ongoing

The WPCG do conduct audits to ensure that the WPCG training is being conducted as per requirements. If you are a company trainer and you are not meeting the minimum training standards (not using the full training material provided, not conducting the training face-to-face, or conducting the training in too short a duration), you may have the trainer profile removed, or need to go back for re-training. The full requirements for the WPCG Company Trainer is outlined in the following document. WPCG Company Trainer Requirements. Note that all requirements are retrospective.
